What a lovely time we had with our Warmshowers hosts Biggi and Steve. We have just great experience with Warmshowers - I'm really not sure why we don't do more of it!!
It was really cold this morning, with frost everywhere and ice on the cars. The route was much less hilly too, so not as good for warming up! It was mostly very lovely, even around Southampton as we followed a bike path along the river for a good stretch.
Things became a lot busier once we entered the New Forest (it's half term holidays). We shopped in Lyndhurst, and had to fight through gridlock to escape out the other side. The pavements were also rammed. Apparently shopping and cafe-culture are the main attractions...in this beautiful national park.....
We then took the long route to Burley to avoid riding on the A35, and were treated to some lovely riding. Autumn colours, ponies and quiet roads. That's more like it!
We're staying at the YHA in Burley. It has a lot of glamping, with separate facilities, all of which is very busy. The main hostel is quite calm....at the moment!! The lounge has no TV, and a roaring fire, perfect!
Three more days......
