Hulst to Ghent, Belgium

Thursday October 18, 2018, 32 miles (51 km) - Total so far: 7,021 miles

(11,299 km)

We slept pretty well despite the traffic noise. Everything was a bit damp this morning; gone are our dry starts, alas!!

We decided not to follow the node system today in the interests of saving our tired legs from a few wiggly km. Komoot sent us on a decent route but, with lots of cycle paths along busy roads, it wasn't so interesting or peaceful. There do seem to be cycle paths along all of the bigger roads though, which is great!!

We stopped for fairly early lunch but we're still in Ghent by around 1pm. It's a lovely little city. We managed a decent look around before shopping and then heading to camping Blaarmesen. It's pretty standard but the very hot showers were much appreciated after three days’ roughing it!!

Plenty of time for admin this afternoon. Our ferry is booked for Sunday, as are our first two YHAs back in the uk. We really are nearly home now! I've been excited about it for so long but not quite sure how I feel about it now it's really happening…..
